The Sour Grapes Blog - Trinidad Carnival, Greatest Show Baje Fete On Earth

Off go pinky, keebs and kiwi today followed by nut and half of the Bajan young adult population. Mostly I don't care but first time missing carnival in 5 years wont be easy. Lucky for me I have my own countdown going on. That, coupled with the fact that carnival is fast becoming too big a sacrifice for the financially challenged provide some comfort.

I can't believe the prices for the fetes. I was grumbling last year...but how the hell can the promoters justify another 50TT added to already exorbitant prices?

Thanks to the kindness of Trini hookups, boyfriends and admirers I've never had to pay full price for a costume or for most of my partying(they insisted!). Neither did I have to pay for the flight or for somewhere to stay or food etc and carnival was still only just within my budget. If you can afford it... power to yah. Maybe next year I will be able to.

But this year I will be happy with my very own private Trinidadian fun. Greatest Ride Show On Earth coming direct to Leeds for my personal pleasure.
mwahaha.

Enjoy it girlies! Take nuff pics. I'll be jealous but I will get over it by mid-March. I still believe Bajans know how to enjoy Trini carnival better than Trinis.

Show them how it's done and I will be looking out for you on triniscene
